4. Coaching and training

Introduction
The club provides training sessions for all three sections - Men, Women and juniors. Both the Men’s and Women’s training sessions are split on the basis of one club session open to all playing members and an Elite session, restricted to the top two teams in each section, and any invited others (at the coaches’ discretion)
The junior session is structured and directed by the Junior Head Coach, and caters for all age groups from reception through to year 9/10.
All coaching takes place at the Worcester international Hockey Centre, Droitwich Road, Worcester, WR3 7SW

Philosophy
In line with GB hockey coaching philosophy we aim to create a player centred, rather than coach centred, learning environment, where players have more say, feel valued, and actively participate in their own learning.
As a club we fully embrace the developments in GB hockey coaching philosophy, and actively support a policy of ongoing coach development to support this.

Coaches

The club has a team of capable and experienced coaching staff available. Ideally each session will be led by a qualified Level 2 (or equivalent) coach, however, in certain circumstances this may not always be the case.

Where necessary all sessions will be supported by one or more coaching assistants that may or may not be level 1 qualified (or equivalent). Those coaching assistants that are not level 1 (or equivalent) qualified will however be either an experienced senior player, or an experienced junior player (age 16+) that has a good understanding and experience of the England Hockey Player Pathway (previously called the single system),preferably up to Performance Centre (previously called JRPC level).

In junior coaching sessions, in addition to coaching assistants, junior helpers will also provide assistance. This junior helper role is often undertaken as part of Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme.

The club also provides specialist goalkeeping sessions, accessible to all goalkeepers in all sections. Sessions will be delivered by coaches with either significant goalkeeping experience, and/or goalkeeper coaching experience.
All lead coaches at the club have experience and understanding of the England Hockey Player Pathway and will deliver all sessions in accordance with the current GB hockey philosophy.

Code of conduct
All club coaches abide by the coaching code of conduct; this will be uploaded soon
