It is widely recognised Club Umpires often have nowhere to go and no one to turn to for support. Many have done an on-line course with no practical training. We are hoping to plug that gap with a programme of Club Umpire Training Events (CUTE).

For 2024/25 these will continue to be FREE to all participants i.e., funded centrally by Midlands Hockey.

The Events will be run by experienced Umpires, Umpire Coaches and developers at venues with access to a meeting Area and a nearby pitch.

CUTE – in brief what can I expect?

No invoices or cost (apart from getting to the venue)
a meet and greet to establish the groups learning requests.
a presentation on current topics introducing the practical elements.
2 hours out on the pitch using demonstrations and small team games covering the practical elements of the game e.g. positioning during play and set pieces, Aerial ball, Decision making and Control strategies.
to be part of a group whose shared aim is to improve their umpiring.

The small team games will require attendees to bring playing kit as you will take it in turns to play and umpire. If you are not a player or no longer playing, then you are of course still welcome to attend

Currently being planned are similar events near Wolverhampton, Belper and Edgbaston dates and venues during August /September to be confirmed in due course
